About Me
Hello and welcome! I'm Avery, a versatile and expressive performer with experience spanning contemporary and golden age musical theatre, jazz, folk, and country, with a strong foundation in classical vocal technique! Born and raised in New Jersey, I am earning my BFA in Musical Theatre from Rider University.
Theatre has not only shaped me as an artist but also as a person. As a child, I struggled with "Selective Mutism," or "SM," an extreme anxiety disorder that made the simple task of speaking, nearly impossible. Diagnosed at just four years old, I spent years undergoing extensive therapy to help me find my voice.
It was the fearless performers I admired, both on stage and up on my television screen, that inspired me to push myself to step into the spotlight, despite how uncomfortable it was for me to be there. I longed to be just like Dorothy Gale, and urged my parents to continuously buy me new pairs of ruby red slippers as soon as I had outgrown the last. That desire to keep pushing forward, to "grow into my next pair," so to speak, has become a metaphor for my journey, and has been my motivation to keep pushing past my comfort zone, even in my adulthood!

Let's Get Glam!
I've been doing my own makeup for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, I'd sneak my mom's berry toned lipsticks long before I was ever allowed to wear it, and kept a collection of sheer, flavored chapsticks, pretending they were different shades of pink and red. Now, you'll never catch me not in a full face whether it's for a self tape, audition, performance, or even just to grab a morning coffee!
I love makeup for the same reason I love acting: it tells a story and lets you become someone new. One of my favorite parts of performing is creating a unique makeup look for each character I play. It's a way for me to bring a role to life while adding a little piece of myself.
Right now, I'm especially excited to be working on makeup design for Rider University's spring production of 9 to 5!
